]]> Another beautiful day out at the schoolhouse. We have made some good progress on the windows with the help of our Volunteers! Rehabbing the old wainscoting was a laborious job but well worth the effort to preserve yet another valuable piece to this historical puzzle.

This week, a quick trip to Macomb, IL yielded this awesome donated 8’ recitation bench, used by children while being taught reading, history, and math by class. The bench sits in the front of the classroom, where the teachers called children up by grade to teach each subject to individual age groups. On Friday, WQAD TV came to check out the progress on finishing the interior. That piece could air sometime next week.

What a great Monday! Tammy & Kelly Rundle from Fourth Wall Films met us at Aceno Granite in Pleasant Valley to capture some footage of cutting slate for the chalkboards at Forest Grove School.
